In the name of God Amen. I Jonathan Jarvis of the County of Hyde and state of North Carolina being weak of body but of sound and disposing mind and memory blessed be God this 22nd July 1829 make & publish this my last will and testament in manner following, that is to say----

First I give unto my daughter Elizabeth Midyette one negro boy by the name of Jack one bed and furniture one cow & yearling by the name of Luck branded heifer yearling one stand of drawers.

I give unto my daughter Susannah Jarvis one negro girl by the name of Frank one bed and furniture one dining table one cow by the name of Black one by the name of Cheary, unto them and their heirs and assigns forever.

I give unto my son Zachariah Jarvis all my lands whereon I now live to him and his heirs and assigns, one negro boy by the name of Arnel one bed and furniture one horse one cart and all my working tools to him and his heirs and assigns forever.

I leave Clarissa and Eldin to stand as they are, eight years, then she and hir increase to be equally divided between my two daughters Elizabeth Midyette and Susanna Jarvis them and their heirs and assigns.

If the colt live to perform worke I then give the mare unto my daughter Elizabeth Midyette if not to my son Zach Jarvis.

I give unto my beloved wife, Lydia Jarvis, all my property before mentioned to my wife as long as she sees cause to hold it.

I give unto my son Zach Jarvis all the remains of my property that is not willed away at the death of my wife.

I leave twenty acres of land in Currituck joining Zach Fortiscue heirs to be sold to the best advantage by my executors. Ii hereby make and ordain Zachariah Jarvis and Foster Jarvis the executors to this my last will and testament. In witness whereof I the said Jonathan Jarvis have to this my last will and testament set my hand and seal the day and year above mentioned.

Hyde County}     SS     August Term 1829
    Then was this last will & testament of Jonathan Jarvis exhibited into open Court for probate and duly proven by the oath of James Jarvis a subscribing witness thereto, and at the same time Foster Jarvis came into court and qualified as executor thereto. Ordered by the court that the same be recorded.
