In the name of God Amen I Christopher P. Flowers of Swanquarter Hyde County being of a low state of bodily health but of strong mind and memory blessed be God for it and knowing that it is appointed for all to die I do make and publish this my last Will and testament.  In the following manner to wit first I Consign my body to the dust from whence it came and my soul to God who gave it as to what of this earthly goods the Lord has bestowed upon me I leave as follows after my Funeral Charges is all paid and all my Just debts paid then I leave the residue in the following manner.

     Item 1st  I give and bequeath to my son Joseph P. Flower fifty acres of land that I bought of Josiah G. Jarvis known as the Swamp binding him for consideration of said land to pay over to my son John W. Flower and my daughter Margaret Barnett the sum of Fifty dollars each for their respective legacies.

     Item 2nd  I give and bequeath to my dauther Mary E. Flowers one Cow known by the name of gentle.

     Item 3rd  I give and bequeath to my son William P. Flowers my largest gun.

     Item 4th  I give and bequeath to my son Zion Flowers my little gun.

     Item 5th  I give and bequeath to my beloved wife Nancy all the residue of my estate of every description by her paying all the debts that is now due or may become due in Settling of my Estate I further do make and Constitute my worthy Friend Decatur W. Jarvis my whole & Sole Executor to This my last Will & Testament and I do hereby repeal and revoke all and every Will and Testament heretofore made by me

  Hyde County }              May Tenth 1857
    Then was the within & foregoing paper writing produced in open court and proved in due form of law to be the last will and testament of Christopher P. Flowers and by the oath of Nasa Farrow and E.H. Gaskill the two subscribing witnesses to the same.  It was then declared by the Court that the said will was proved so as to be both real and personal estate.  At the same time Decator W. Jarvis the executor named in said will came into open court and duly qualified as such according to law.

Let the said will and this certificate be recorded & filed.
