Lorenzo B. Farrow

This indenture made the twenty ninth day of September eighteen hundred and sixty eight between Lorenzo B. Farrow of the State of North Carolina and County of Hyde of the one part and Christian Farrow & Lorenzo C. Barnett of the same county of the other part.  Witnesseth that the said Lorenzo B. Farrow for and in consideration of the love and good will which I have and care towards my Christian Farrow & Lorenzo C. Barnett my name sake both of the same county and state have by these presents do truly give and grant unto the said Lorenzo C. Barnett one bed and furniture one gun to him, his heirs assigns forever. I also give to my wife, Christian Farrow, all the rest of my property for her support to dispose of as she has need or sees fit except the house and land and at the death of my wife I give to Lorenzo C. Barnett his heirs and assigns or executors forever.  Given under my hand and seal day and date above written and I leave my wife Christian Farrow as Executrix of my last will.

Hyde County in the Probate Court October 4, 1869
    Then was the foregoing last will and testament of L.B. Farrow produced for probate and the due execution thereof was proved by the oath and examination of H.F. Barnett, a subscribing witness thereto, and ordered to be recorded and filed.

    I certify that the foregoing instrument purporting to be the last will & testament of Lorenzo B. Farrow is a true copy recorded in Will Book __, pg. 17.  Witness my hand and official seal, this 20th day of September 1890.

[NOTE from Barbara Aylor Midgette]: There were 3 originals of this will, two written in very beautiful handwriting with the same information and dates. The third was in different handwriting. Where A. Berry signed in 1890, the third copy was signed by J.H. Wahab, Clerk of Superior Court on June 9, 1898. The second page attached to this original will had written on it the following: Lorenzo C. Barnett died after his death. His half-brother (John) dies after he dies. The old lady (Christian) dies.)

[NOTE from Kay M. Sheppard] Lorenzo Burrus Farrow, son of Hezekiah Farrow, was born Jan. 9, 1811 & died Aug. 5, 1869.  He married Christian (maiden name unk.) and there were no children born of this union.  Christian was born May 29, 1817 & died Apr. 11, 1898.  Lorenzo C. Barnett, born July 25, 1853 & died Aug. 10, 1890, was the first child of Oliver O'Neal Barnett and his 1st wife, Margaret Flowers.  Lorenzo C. Barnett married Elizabeth Abner "Lizzie" Gray on Oct. 25, 1884 and had no children as far as I know.  He lived with the widow, Christian Farrow, in 1870 & 1880 where he was listed as "cousin".  Oliver O'Neal Barnett married for a second time to Mary Louise Fulcher and they had 7 children, the last being John Fulcher Barnett who was born Aug. 8, 1881 and must have died between 1890-1898.]
