Joshua H. Dailey - 1866

May 24, 1866 - A bond for $800.00 was signed by Benjamin B. Dailey, adm'r. of Joshua B. Daley, dec'd., with Abram Farrow & Caleb B. Stow as sureties

June 7, 1866 - Account of Sales of the estate of Joshua B. Daley, dec'd. taken by Benj. B. Daley, adm'r.  Total sale amounted to $43.00

August 13, 1866 - Petition of Benj. B. Daley. adm'r. of Joshua B. Daley, against Saloma J. Daley, Sally C. Daley, Fedric Spencer & wife Delpheni and Hesekiah Farrow & wife Martha. The administrator states that since becoming the adm'r. he's found that the debts due from the estate amount to about $350.00 plus $20.00 administration costs and that the personal assets amount to about $43.00. At the time of his death said intestate was possessed of a tract of land in Hyde Co. adjoining Henry Scarboro & Rob Styron on Hatteras containing about 4 acres valued at $100.00 per acre. At his death this land passed to Saloma Daley, Sally Saley, Delphini Spencer and Martha Farrow and that he left no widow. He petitions the Court to sell this land in order to settle the debts of his intestate.

June 4, 1867 - House & lot of 4 acres was sold to Alonzo J. Stow for $100.00

March 7, 1870 - Salona Dailey & others sue Benj. B. Dailey, adm'r. of J.H. Dailey, for $23. 85 for costs pertaining the the administration of the estate.

[Note: Joshua Halstead Dailey was born c1807 and died Dec. 26, 1865.  He married Mary Louisa Ballance (1806-1862) sometime before 1830 and they had:  (1) Delphia Louisa Dailey who married Frederick Fletcher Spencer in 1851; (2) Martha H. Dailey who married Hezekiah David Farrow in 1852; (3) Fabius Finalton Dailey who apparently died before 1866; (4) Capt. Benjamin Baxter Dailey who married Josephine E. Williams in 1866.  Benjamin was not listed in the above proceedings but did live until 1914; (5) Salome J. Dailey who married James Jennette Barnett, Jr. in 1869; and (6) Sarah C. "Sally" Dailey who married Harry Herbert Ballance, Sr. circa 1868.]
