James Credle
Sept. 4, 1827 - February Term 1829

In the name of God Amen.  I James Credle being in perfect mind and memory blessed be God for it I do this day of our Lord 1827 make and publish this my last will and Testament in manner following, that is to say---

I gave to my wife Dorcas the use of half of my plantation where I now live and Peter and York and negro Hale & 1 bed & furniture 1 wheel and Kitchen furniture and my Hogs & cattle and farming tools during her life.  Then I gave to my Two sons Matthias & Martin my negro York to them and there heirs forever and I gave to  Daughter Polly Negro Haly to her and her heirs forever and I gave to my Daughter Clarisa piece of land that I bot of William Boomer and negro Peter to her and her heirs forever this said land lyes on the sowwest Bay on the Lake, and I gave Daughter Betsy negro Nancy and a piece off land that lies ajoining of her and Zacheriah Burris line and then twenty five acres more or less to her and her heirs forever and I gave to my son George my plantation whare I now live and my negro boy Seth and two pare of Carte wheels and feather bed to him and his heirs forever and I gave Daughter Dorcas a piece of Lake land that I bot of Samuel Williamson on Hens Bay and Negro Girl Harriet and two Hundred dollars off good close to be found her until she is free and one feather bed and furniture & one small table to her and her heirs forever and the rest of my property to be sold to pay up charges and the write of the Leading ditch I gave to my sons Martin & George to drain down and not for one to stop the other and each of my heirs to have the cattle in their own ear mark and if their are any property over let it be divided among my sons and daughter equally.

I hereby make my son Matthias & Martin Executors of this my last will and testament in witness whereof I the said James Credle signed and published and delivered this by the said James Credle as my last will and Testament in Presence of us who were present at the time of signing and delivering thereof this September the 4th 1827.

    Then was the last will and testament of James Credle, dec'd., produced into Court and duly proven Tho. Hudson and Wilson Credle.  Ordered by the Court that the same be recorded and at the same time Matthias Credle, one of the Exr's therein named, qualified as an Executor.
