In the name of God Amen.  I Naomy Cox of the County of Hyde and State of North Carolina being weak in body but of sound and disposed mind & knowing that it is appointed for all flesh once to died do recommend my soul into the hands of Almighty God that gave it and my body to the earth and as touching my worldly estate I give and bequeath as followeth, viz--

First I give and bequeath unto my two daughters Mahalah Cox & Elizabeth Cox all the land and plantation that my father David Carter gave me on the Ridge containing ninety acres to be equally divided between them their heirs and assigns forever.

2. I give and bequeath unto my son Benjamin Cox two hundred and fifty dollars.

My will and desire is that all the residue of my lands and other estate of whatever nature the same may be my executor shall sell on a credit of six months the proceeds of which after paying all my just debts and expenses and the above legacy to my son Benjamin to be equally divided between Jesse Cox, David Cox, Mahalah Cox, Elizabeth Cox, Richard Cox, and Benj. Cox.  I also constitute & appoint David Carter whole and sole executor to this my last will and testament revoking all other will or wills by me made and rattifying this to be my only will in Testimony whereof I have hereunto set my hand & fixed my seal this 6th day of Septm. 1830.  Signed sealed & acknowledged in presence of

    Then was this last will & Testament of Naomy Cox duly proven in open court by the oath of Benjamin Saunderson one of the subscribing witnesses thereto and ordered to be recorded.
