      Hyde County

I Moses Carter of the County an State aforesaid do this day being in my sound and perfect senses do this the twenty fourth day of February in the year of our Lord one thousand eight hundred and thirty five make and publish this my last will and testament and leave it as follows, to wit--

To say first of my bequeathing is to my beloved brother Stephen D. Carter all of the personal and real estate namely land and stock household and kitchen furniture to him and his heirs forever with the exception of one hundred dollars which I will to B.H.S. Liverman to be appropriated to the use of schooling and educating the said B.H.S. Liverman in that way and at that time that shall appear to be the most advantage to said boy.  I also leave the said hundred dollars in the hands of my beloved brother S.D. Carter to use the said money for the said purpose above written.  If he should have it in his power and if not to remain in common with the rest of the said property to said S.D. Carter.

In witness thereunto I do here sign my name and affix my seal the day and year above written.

    Then was a paper writing purporting to be the last will & testament of Moses F. Carter, dec'd., late of this county bearing date the twenty fourth day of February A.D. 1835 exhibited into court this Term & was duly proved by the oath of David Gibbs a subscribing witness thereto and ordered to be recorded
        Test. R.M.G., Clk.
