In the name of God Amen.  I Zachariah Burrus of the county and state aforesaid being in health of body and in perfect mind and memory thanks be unto God for it therefore calling unto mind the mortality of my body and knowing that it is appointed for all men once to die do make this my last will and testament.  And first of all I commend my soul into the hands of Almighty God who gave it and my body to be buried in a descent Christian like manner.  And touching my worldly estate that it has pleased Almighty God to bless me with I give and dispose of as follows and first to have all my just debts paid out of my estate.  And then I give & bequeath unto my wife Elizabeth all my property to remain in her possession to dispose of for her support as she thinks best during her widowhood excepting there should be some property that she does not need and likely to suffer then she may make it over to such of the children as she thinks proper to be valued and to be so much of their legacy at her decease and at the expiration of her widowhood or death all the property belonging to the estate aforesaid to be equally divided with my children (to wit) Leven Burrus, Delany W. Burrus, Comfort W. Burrus, Selina V. Burrus, Edmond D. Burrus, Allen Burrus & Betsy C. Burrus the house and land attached to it with the improvements thereunto I gave and leave to my son Allen Burrus at my wife's Elizabeth decease and the said plantation I value at two hundred dollars to be put to the said Allen Burrus legacy.  And disannulling all other wills I do make this my last will and testament.  And I do hereby appoint my son Levin Burrus my sole executor to this my last will and testament.  In witness I have hereunto set my hand and seal this 18th day of December in the year of our Lord 1837.
