US Pension Record: Invalid Pension Filed: Oct. 28, 1890 & Jan. 21, 1910 (#871.780). Jan. 17, 1894 - Letter to Commissioner of Pensions: Banister B. Casey was in Co. I, 1st Regt. NC Vol. Arty. and was enrolled on Feb. 5, 1863 and mustered out June 27, 1865 as of Co. H, 1st NC Inf. Transferred from Co. H to Co. I.
April 18, 1894 Affadavit: Casey, age 47 & resident of Buxton states he has been suffering from malarial attacks for 20 years & that he has had an enlarged spleen for 18 years; that these diseases were contracted while persuing his occupation of fishing and oystering in the waters of Pamlico Sound; that piles appeared in the Fall of 1888.
Questionnaires: Banister B. Casey states that he enrolled at Cape Hatteras on or about Jan. 21, 1863 as a private in Co. H, 1st NC Inf. and was honorably discharged at New Bern on or about July 12, 1865; that when he enlisted he was 5'4", had a dark complexion, hazel eyes and dark hair; that his occupation was a cook; that he was born on Jan. 14, 1848 at Cape Hatteras; that he has lived continuously at Buxton and is now a pensioner; that his wife's full maiden name was Achsah Marria Scarborough; that she was formerly married to Bateman A. Williams who died in 1866 at Buxton and served with General Burnsides Expos in the waters of NC as a pilot; that Achsah died May 16, 1920 and they had no children living or dead.
July 26, 1920 - Declaration for Pension: Banister B. Casey, age 74 & resident of Buxton states that he suffers from senility and blindness and that he is a pensioner under certificate (#871.780). Oct. 28, 1928 - Application for Reimbursement of Medical Expenses: Cynthia Rollinson, age 39 & niece of Banister B. Casey, states that she accrued expenses while taking care of the pensioner during his last sickness and burial; that Banister died of cancer and a paryletic stroke but the pensioner had needed constant care since May 1920 and had been living with them since that time.

March 4, 1891-Neighbor's Affidavit: Oliver N. Barnett, age 61 & resident of Buxton, states he has known B.D. Clark for 50 years and that he suffers from piles and disease of the lungs with frequent hemorrhaging; that he has been wholly unable to perform manual labor for the last 10 years and his disability has rendered him an object of charity for the last several years and is now staying with whoever is kind enough to take him.
