HYDE COUNTY VETERANS
OF THE
WAR OF 1812

CAPTAIN WILLLAM BLOUNT'S COMPANY

In an article which appeared in the Washington, NC Progress weekly newspaper on August 8, 1901, Lake Landing, Hyde County, NC, the following muster roll was listed, dated December 13, 1813:

This company of men left Hyde County on December 23rd, 1813. They were ordered to Ocracoke and from there to Charleston, S.C. It is not known if this unit was ever in an engagement, but their services were recognized by the State of North Carolina. Mrs. Matilda Daniels and one other person, widow, drew a pension of twelve dollars a month. She died only several years before this article was printed in 1901; the last of the survivors.
