   “2 Jul 1832 warrant to apprehend Elizabeth Sadler, single woman now with child, executed by Josiah Jarvis, Constable.  Elizabeth confessed that Benjamin Harris, planter of Juniper Bay, is the father.  During Fall Term 1832 Superior Court - Jurors found that on 2 Jul 1832 JPs issued warrant commanding Josiah Jarvis, Jr. Const., to apprehend Elizabeth Sadler.  Alford Sadler, late of the county, and Clinton Sadler, late of the county, did assault Josiah Jarvis and rescue Elizabeth Sadler from his custody.”  (Elizabeth, Alford & Clinton maybe are brothers and sisters?)

Spencer, Jr., Engelhard, NC, from his research in the NC Archives Search Room in 1977 -- Re:  Alfred Sadler, died 10 Oct 1853 from gunshot wounds - Hyde County Minute Docket Superior Court 1838-1854, Fall Term 1853, State vs. Mary Ann Foster  -- “She was charged with the murder of Alfred Sadler.  She was charged with shooting him on Oct 1, 1853 in the right leg just below the right hip in a "Several Mortal wounds of the depth of six inches & of the breadth of one inch."  Sadler languished from these wounds until Oct. 10, 1853 when he died.  The jury was composed of Robt. J. Bonner, Wm. Gaskins, David S. Jarvis, Sylvester McGown (McGowan), Josha (Joshua) A. Ballance, Mathias Credle, Benjm. R. Selby, Albin B. Silverthorn, David A. Dillon, Micajah T. Harris, Wm. Chester, and Jas. H. Warner.  The defendant was found not guilty and judgment was suspended and the prisoner discharged.”
