Estate of Henry McGowan

Henry McGowan (c1812-1882) was one of the younger children of James (c1774-1854) and Elizabeth "Betsy" (Hodges) (c1773-c1852) McGowan of the Huron Bay area on the Southwest side of Mattamuskeet Lake in Hyde Co., NC. Of the eleven children of James & Betsy, only Henry and his older sister Anne McGowan (c1800-1882) never married. Henry and Ann lived with their parents until their deaths. Since Henry was childless and the last of his siblings to die, his estate was divided among the heirs of his brothers and sisters. The administrator of his estate was Caleb Swindell Boomer, his nephew, a son of Henry's sister Sarah "Sally" (McGowan) Boomer.
