Will of Bartlett Gentry (1803-1893)

WILL of BARTLETT GENTRY

Know all men by these present that I BARTLETT GENTRY of Texas County in the State of Missouri, being of sound mind and disposing menory do make and publish this my last will and testament.
1st - I give and bequeath to my beloved wife MADECIA GENTRY the possesion of that portion of my dwelling house which is over the cellar and of the log kitchen to the rest of the same for and during the period of her natural life.
I further give and bequeath to my said wife MADECIA a generous support and maintenance, food, clothing, etc. from the products of my house, farm and personal property during her natural life. The same to be paid, or given, by my son JESSE C. GENTRY.
I further will that my said son shall give her decend and Christian burial and pay her funeral expences, and that all shall be paid out of his portion of my estate.
2nd - I give and bequeath to my daughter LOUISA E. GENTRY, and to her heirs and assigns, the south west quarter of the north west quarter section fifteen Township thirty north of range nine west in Texas County, Missouri. I also give and bequeath to her a marriage portion, at her marriage, equal to that which I have heretofore given her sisters at their marriage. This is to be paid, or given, to her by my son JESSE C. GENTRY out of his portion (Page 1) of my estate. I also give and bequeath to her a support and maintenance out of my estate as long as she remains with her mother and unmarried, and until the death of her mother, but when married, the support shall cease. This support to be furnished her by my son JESSE C. GENTRY out of his portion of my estate.
3rd - It is my further will that all of my personal property on hand at the time of my death shall be used for the support of my wife MADECIA, my son JESSE C. and my daughter LOUISA E., but that my son JESSE C. GENTRY shall have the possession and Control of the same, and may buy and sell at his pleasure, but shall out of the proberty sold buy (---?---) and keep up the stock on the farm.
4th - I give and bequeath to my son JESSE C. GENTRY, and to his heirs and assigns, with the limitations in this will all the balance residue of my estate, real, personal and (---?---).
5th - It is my will that there be an administrator on my estate but that my son JESSE C. GENTRY shall pay all my just debts and funeral expences out of his portion of my estate.
6th - To my sons OLIVER H. GENTRY, LORENZO G. GENTRY, JOINER GENTRY and the (Page 2) children of my son JASPER B. GENTRY (now deceased) and to my daughters MARY M. McGOWAN and ELMIRA WHITE, I give nothing now, as I have heretofore given them all I desire them to have of my estate.
7th - I hereby appoint JESSE C. GENTRY (my son) sole executor of this my last will and testament.
8th - I hereby revolk all wills heretofore made by me. In witness whereof, I have hereto set my hand and affixed my seal, of Texas County, Missouri this 6th day of March A.D. 1889.

At the request of BARTLETT GENTRY, the maker of the above will, we have signed our names hereto as witnesses in the presence of the testator, and in the presence of each other, The said BARTLETT GENTRY signed said will in our presence and then and there declared the same to be his last will and testament.
