Piney Grove Church of Christ (Disciples of Christ), Swan Quarter, NC; 1908-1975
Information provided by Mrs. Beatrice Credle, Swan Quarter, in 1975

As you travel Highway 264 approximately one mile from the little village of Swan Quarter located on the right there stands, surrounded by pines, the church founded by Elder Thomas Daniel (deceased) in 1908.

The first Deacons were Bro. Mingo Credle, Reiner Credle and Emanuel Credle.  The Deaconesses were Sister Dollie Gillian (deceased) and Sister Quilley Hudson.  The Secretary was Alice M. Credle.

The second Pastor was Elder Daniel Norman.  The Deacons were Dave Credle and Emanuel Credle.  The Deaconesses were Alice Credle and Lizzie Holloway.

The third Pastor was Elder General Norman with the same Deacons and Deaconesses as above.

The fourth Minister was Elder G.R. Lovick who gave the church its name "Piney Grove" because of its location.  The Deacons were Mingo Credle, Dave Credle, Emanuel Credle, Otto Whitaker, Doc Gardner, Frank Credle and Lemon Benson.

The fifth Minister was Elder Jessie Whitaker with Deacons being Mingo Credle, Otto Whitaker, Dave Credle, Chanlain Hardy, Andrew Credle and Oliver Credle.

The sixth Minister and present Pastor [in 1975] is Elder B.T. Boomer.  Deacons are Chanlain Hardy, Andrew Credle and Oliver Credle.  The Deaconesses are Sister Mary L. Hardy and Sister Lessie Farrow.  The Secretary is Sister Beatrice Credle.
