A 1715 Corn List For

Beaufort and Hyde Precincts

In 1712 the government of North Carolina imposed a levy of corn, wheat and money on every tithable  in the colony to provide money and provisions for a small army of Yamassee Indians from South Carolina to protect the settlers. This levy was in response the an early morning massacre on September 22, 1711 in the eastern region of North Carolina.
