after 1910 | Son of Shadrick & Julia Ball; married 1st Arrena Annie Midyette on July 27, 1865; married 2nd Mary Eleanor "Mamie" O'Neal on Nov. 20, 1895. Martin was a Confederate veteran, having enlisted in Co. F, 33rd Regiment on Sept. 9, 1861. He was present or accounted for until captured at Hanover Court House, Virginia on May 27, 1862. He was sent to Fort Monroe, Va. and transferred to Aikens Landing, James River, Va. where he was received on or about July 12, 1862 for exchange and declared exchanged at Aiken's Landing on Aug. 5, 1862. He returned to duty prior to Nov. 1, 1862 and was present or accounted for until captured at or near Fussell's Mill, Virginia on Aug. 16, 1864. He was confined at Point Lookout, Maryland on Aug. 22, 1864 and was paroled and transferred to Boulware's Wharf, James River, Virginia were he was received on March 16, 1865 for exchange. NC Pension records indicate he was wounded on an unspecified date. | |
