Genealogical Notes
Note:
Ocracoke Island,
which was previously part of Carteret County, became part of Hyde County in
1845. Since Thomas Wahab was a seafaring man it may account for why he
was never enumerated in any census record after 1800. His wife, Mary,
was listed as head of household from 1810-1840.
