McLean
I've hit a dead end with my great-great-grandfather. His name is Murdoc(h) McLean and he was born around 1793 in Cumberland County, North Carolina. He married Catherine McNeill McLean, 10 January 1825, and had the following children with her: Mary McLean born ca. 1825; Christian McLean born ca. 1828; John McLean born ca. 1830; Flora McLean born ca. 1834; Malcom A. McLean born 13 October 1839. He then married Margaret Darroch McLean, 28 November 1842, and had the following children with her: Catharine McLean born ca. 1844; Margaret McLean born ca. 1845; Neill McLean born ca. 1849; Ann McLean born ca. 1851. Both marriages and all of the births were in Cumberland County in an area that is now Harnett County. Malcom A. McLean is my great-great grandfather.

I'm trying hard to find out about any of Murdoch's siblings and parents in an effort to get the link back to Scotland. Once I have the link and the area they came from, I want to visit Scotland and see where they lived. The only other clue I have is a bit of family lore about two McLean brothers arriving together from Scotland and settling on opposite banks of the Cape Fear. Thanks. Also, his son was Bejamin Franklin Hamilton b.12 July 1851, d. 7 June 1916, married to Margaret I. Carter Hamilton. All from Harnett County. If anyone can help me continue my research, please reply. LEE / WILKINS
My name is Teresa Harrington. My dad is William Robert LEE and his mother was Susan Lee. Lettie was her sister. Lettie Lee (I think) married A.B. WILKINS. I did find at the North Carolina State Archives where a marriage between these two happened in 1916. I looked up the marriage records on microfilm and was not able to read any of the roll. I don't mean to ramble on but I didn't even know my grandmother had a sister. Through research I found she had two sisters. I have found one of them in the grave yard where she is buried. I do know that the Johnston Co. Gene. Society helped me with my grandmothers side and have traced me to John Lee Esquire. We did not do much research at all on my grandfathers side. His side is from Harnett Co. Some of his people. (Parents and grandparents are buried at Grove Presb. Church located on Jonesboro Rd. about 3 miles from Beulah Baptist (Johnston Co.) same road where my grand parents are buried along with her parents. I do have more info so if you need more I will be glad to supply you with what I have. Any info would be helpful. Thank you for your time. Thanks again!!!! Teresa Harrington July 24, 2001
