The following rough outline was abstracted from letters written by Sarah F. Hicks Williams to her parents in New York. These letters were transcribed by James C. Bonner, and published by James Creech in his History of Greene Co., North Carolina, in 1984. Dr. Benjamin Franklin Williams lived at Clifton Grove in Greene County.
