John Frank Lewis & Maggie Adams Lewis


John Frank Lewis and Maggie Adams Lewis were both born around 1870 in South Carolina. Little information has been found on John's family, but Maggie's family has been traced back to 1805. She was the daughter of Robert 'Bob' Adams and Violet Biggers Adams. 

John and Maggie were married sometime around 1887 and became the parents of four girls and three boys; Annie Lee Lewis (York Brown & Rufus Adams), Lillie Bell Lewis (Charlie Horne), Virgie Lewis (John Perkins), Lorena Lewis (Thomas Adams), Rogers Lewis (Gertrude Mackins), John Lewis Jr. (Ola Adams & Maggie McClure) and Robert Austin Lewis (Leola Crosby).
 
 Sometime between 1920 and 1930, John And Maggie became the owners of numerous acres of land on Galilee Church Road in Kings Mountain, NC...Many of their descendants still live on the land. According to family history the land was given to John & Maggie by the white Mauney family of Kings Mountain, NC.
 
 John Frank Lewis died sometime between 1940 And 1950. His wife Maggie Adams Lewis died on May 18,1951.
 
 John And Maggie are both buried in the Adams Chapel A.M.E. Zion Church Cemetery in Kings Mountain, NC along with their seven children and countless other descendants.

 


John Frank Lewis & Maggie Adams Lewis were the 3rd great-grandparents of Dominique Bess who submitted this article.
