This Indenture made and entered into this 7th of December 1810 by and between PARKER MURPHY of the County of Franklin and State of North Carolina of the one part and WM DALE of the County of Hallifax and State aforesaid of the other part, witnesseth that the said PARKER MURPHY for and in consideration of the sum of one hundred and eighty five dollars and fifty cents to me in hand paid by said WM DALE do bargain sell and convey unto said WM DALE one tract or parcel of land in the said County of Franklin on the South side of Shocco Creek bounded as follows beginning at LEWIS WEBB's corner red oak in WILLIAMS line running west 123 poles to a small white oak, thence So. 138 poles to a maple in the head of a small branch, thence E 123 poles to a post oak thence North 138 poles to the beginning containing by actual survey 106 acres be the same more or less I the said MURPHY doth forever warrant & defend against all rights titles claims and interest &c unto the said WM DALE his heirs and assigns in fee simple to forever herafter to enjoy quietly and peaceably. In witness whereof I have hereunto set my hand & affixed my seal the day and date above written.

This indenture made and entered into this 11th day of September A.D.1871 between MASON RICHARDSON and wife MARY RICHARDSON, NATHAN MILLS & wife ELIZABETH MILLS of the County of Halifax and State of North Carolina of the first part and DOCTOR HAYWOOD WEST of the County of Franklin and State aforesaid of the second part, Witnesseth that the said MASON RICHARDSON & wife MARY RICHARDSON, NATHAN MILLS & wife ELIZABETH MILLS for and in consideration of the sum of forty four dollars and thirty two cents to them in hand paid by the said DOCTOR HAYWOOD WEST the receipts whereof is hereby acknowledged have granted bargained sold and conveyed and by these presents do grant bargain sell and convey bargain sell and convey unto the said DOCTOR HAYWOOD WEST his heirs and assigns in fee simple a certain tract or parcel of land situated in the County of Franklin and state aforesaid bounded as follows to wit: Beginning at a stake corner of No.3 (Division of the DALES land) in ALFRED ALSTON's line thence North 93½ poles to a stake thence East 39 poles 3 links to a Red Oak FITTS corner thence S10 W 22 poles to a Post Oak COLEY's corner thence South 72 poles 20 links to a Dead Oak in ALSTON's line thence N 88½ W 39 poles 3 links to the Beginning, containing by estimation Twenty two and one-half acres be the same more or less , to have and to hold to him the said DOCTOR HAYWOOD WEST his heirs and assigns in fee simple with all the appurtenances thereunto belonging or in any way appertaining and the said NATHAN MILLS and wife ELIZABETH MILLS, MASON RICHARDSON and wife MARY RICHARDSON for themselves their heirs and assigns covenant and agree to and with the said DOCTOR HAYWOOD WEST his heirs and assigns to warrant and forever defend the title to the above described land against the lawful claim or claims of any and all persons whatsoever. In testimony whereof the said NATHAN MILLS and wife ELIZABETH MILLS, MASON RICHARDSON and wife MARY RICHARDSON have hereunto set their hands and seals the day and year first above written.

Greeting,
Whereas DOCTOR HAYWOOD WEST has produced a Deed of Conveyance made to him from MASON RICHARDSON and MARY RICHARDSON his wife and NATHAN MILLS and ELIZABETH MILLS his wife, of a certain tract or parcel of land lying and being in the County of Franklin in said State and proved the execution of the same before me R. H. TIMBERLAKE Judge of Probate for said County, and it being represented to our said Court that it is required by law that MARY RICHARDSON wife of MASON RICHARDSON and ELIZABETH MILLS wife of the said NATHAN MILLS - be examined privately as to be her free consent in executing the said conveyance know ye that reposing confidence in your prudence I have appointed you and by these presents do give you full power and authority, to take private examination of the said MARY RICHARDSON wife of the said MASON RICHARDSON and ELIZABETH MILLS wife of the said NATHAN MILLS convening their free consent in executing the said conveyance and I therefore command you that at such certain day and place as you shall think fit you go to the said MARY RICHARDSON and ELIZABETH MILLS if they can not conveniently come to you and privily [sic] and apart from their said husbands examine them whether they executed the said conveyances freely and of their own accord without fear or compulsion of their husbands and when you have taken the examination you are to send the same closed under your seal together with this commission to our said Court of Probate. Personally appeared before me ARCHIBALD TAYLOR Justice of the Peace of Franklin County, MARY RICHARDSON wife of MASON RICHARDSON and ELIZABETH MILLS wife of NATHAN MILLS and acknowledged the due execution of the foregoing Deed of Conveyance and the said MARY RICHARDSON and ELIZABETH MILLS being by me privily[sic] examined separate and apart from their said husbands touching then voluntary execution of the same doth state that they signed the same freely and voluntarily without fear or compulsion of their said husbands or any other person and that they still voluntarily assent thereto Witness my hand and seal this 4th day of May A.D. 1872.

I, WM DALES have bargained & sold for the consideration of one dollar and by these presents do hereby bargain sell and convey to HENRY MILLS all my interest right and title in and to the tract of land in Franklin County known as the SALLIE MILLS tract adjoining the lands of G.W. RADFORD, WINNIE WEST, M.D. STAMPER & others and containing twelve acres more or less to have and to hold to the said HENRY MILLS his heirs and assigns forever. This Indenture made and entered into this 2nd day of January A.D. 1882 between WILLIAM INSCO and wife SUSANNA INSCO of the County of Franklin and State of North Carolina of the first part and THOMAS B. GUPTON of the County and State aforesaid of the second part witnesseth that the said WILLIAM INSCO and wife SUSANNA INSCO for and in consideration of the sum of twenty three dollars to them in hand paid the receipt whereof is hereby acknowledged have granted bargained sold and conveyed and by these presents do grant bargain sell and convey unto the said THOMAS B. GUPTON his heirs and assigns a certain tract or parcel of land in Franklin County, North Carolina it being the lot no. 7 of the SALLY DALES land assigned to the said WILLIAM INSCO in the partition of the DALES land and bounded as follows to wit: Beginning at a stake in J.B. WILLIAMS family, ALSTON line thence north 72 poles to a stake thence S82° E26 poles to a stake thence south 70 poles to a dead oak thence N 88½ ° W26 poles to the beginning containing Eleven and one fourth acres more or less.
To have and to hold to him the said THOMAS G. GUPTON, his heirs and assigns in fee simple with all the appurtenances thereunto belonging or in any way appertaining and the said WILLIAM INSCO and wife SUSANNA INSCO for themselves their heirs and assigns will convert and agree to and with the said THOMAS B. GUPTON his heirs and assigns to warrant and forever defend the title to the aforeaid land against the lawful claims or claim of any and all persons whatsoever. In testimony whereof the said WILLIAM INSCO and wife SUSANNA INSCO have hereunto set their hands and seal the day and year first above written.

This Indenture made and entered into this the 12th day of May in the year of our Lord one thousand eight hundred and eighty two between WILLIAM B. DALES and his wife HARRIET DALES of the County of Halifax and state of North Carolina of the first part and THOMAS B. GUPTON of the County of Franklin and State above named of the second part Witnesseth that for and in consideration of the sum of ten dollars in hand paid to the said WILLIAM B. DALES and wife HARRIET by the said THOMAS B. GUPTON, at or before the sealing and delivery of these presents the receipt of which is hereby acknowledged they the said WILLIAM B. DALES and wife HARRIET hath bargained sold and delivered and by these presents doth bargain sell and deliver unto the said THOMAS B. GUPTON, his heirs and assigns a certain tract or parcel of land situated in Franklin County and adjoining the lands of DR. J.B. WILLIAMS, SUSAN HAMLETT and others containing eleven & one fourth acres by survey be the same more or less. To have and to hold the said tract of land herein conveyed to him the said THOMAS B. GUPTON, his heirs and assigns forever. In testimony whereof the said WILLIAM B. DALES and wife, HARRIET hath hereunto set their hands and seals the day and year first above writteh.
