I’m hoping you can help me with a clue regarding Archelaus WILLSON/WILSON. There are several spellings in records to his first name – including Hercules. He appears in Orange County, NC with Robert WILLSON around 1756 and they both purchase next to each other. He and Robert help Richard HOLMAN/HOLEMAN and William CHURTON survey land. I have several land records for Archelaus & Robert, and Robert married Ann LATTA.
There is little information about Archelaus after this period until the notation in the “Orange County, NC Court Minutes 1777-1786 Vol III”, it provides a -80-folio 40 Feb Term 1780 record: “An Acct. of Sales of the Estate of Archelaus WILSON decd. was returned in open Court and Ordered to be Recorded.”
Is there a record trail of the Archelaus’ Will or Estate who died in 1780?
Incidentally, there is another Archelaus WILSON (Robert’s grandson) who married Elizabeth MCMULLEN; this family has the same Y-DNA as my colonial era William/Capt Samuel/Lt Col George WILLSON/WILSON in Augusta County/Pendleton County, Va. I am hoping the elder Archelaus and his Will/Estate provides a clue.
Thank you VERY much for any help/direction you can provide!
