“I am researching my Grandmother’s family: RIDENHOUR – STEWART/STUART.  I’m searching their connection to the MCPHERSON family by way of a MCPHERSON daughter, Mary, who married Edward STEWART/STUART, whose parents may or may not have been Samuel and Jane STEWART/STUART.  I have also found an Edward who married a Mary MCPHERSON; his parents names were John and Rachael STEWART/STUART. The thing is, one set of parents are from North Carolina and the other set are from Virginia. I was hoping you could help me find a connection.  Thank you.

I’m a descendant of Samuel Stuart and Jane Dickey, through their daughter Elizabeth. Their son Edward is apparently the one who married Mary McPherson. They lived in North Carolina (Orange County). I’ve obtained this information from Ancestry.com, and don’t have any further insight. Let me know if you have any questions I can answer.

I am a descendant of Edward Stewart who I believe married Mary McPherson from Orange County, NC. There is some confusion from what you find online whether it was my Edward Stewart or the son of Samuel Stuart and Jane Dickey who married Mary McPherson. This needs further research. My Edward may have been the son of Littleberry Stewart and Elizabeth Harper. But, more research is needed to be sure of this connection. My Edward and Mary lived in Davie County, NC and had a son Samuel who married Rebecca McDaniel. You can contact me at debbie.j.powell@gmail.com to discuss in more detail.

I want to thank both people who responded to my query on Mary nee McPherson/Stewart. From information I have looked at, but have not verified, may have been descendent of Samuel and Jane Stewart, her in-laws. I did find a story about her union with Edward (Ned) Stewart not being a happy one and they split from one another after having several children. Again, thank you for your response.
