Query:
The story is told that my g,g,g grandfather moved into GA and Ala from the Carolinas. We think he is the James Bennett that became a wealthy planter in Abbeville, Ala. He fought in the Indian War around 1846 and died about 1858. My question: He has the same name as the James Bennett place used for negotiations by Gen. Johnston of the South and Gen Sherman of the north…were these two men one and the same?
