Dewey A. Midgett

Dewey Andrew Midgett was born at Rodanthe on June 27, 1898 to Zion Scarborough Midgett & Lucretia W. MidgettDewey died in Norfolk, Va. on Christmas Day 1966.  He married Ella B. Midgett on March 13, 1918 and they had four daughters.  Dewey's military record states that he served in the U.S. Coast Guard from March 1, 1920 to October 1, 1944.  He was promoted to 1st Class CBM on Aug. 18, 1942 and was stationed at Cape Henry, Chicamacomico, Oregon Inlet, Little Kennekeet, Big Kennekeet and Bodie Island. He had combat duty in San Juan on the Coast Guard Cutter Bibb.  He had temporary duty at Gull Shoal, Nags Head and Kill Devil Hills, NC.  The caption on this picture says: Dewey Midgett- Bodie Island Station.
