James W. & Vandelia (Toler) Beacham

James Weymouth Beacham, son of Decatur Beacham, Sr. & Letitia Tillett, was born in Kitty Hawk on March 26, 1879 and died April 26, 1957 [see obit].  He married Vandelia Forbes Toler in Kitty Hawk on Nov. 8, 1898.  Vandelia was the daughter of Caleb Hobbs Toler & Sidney Matilda Hines.  She was born in Kitty Hawk on Nov. 24, 1883 & died Oct. 23, 1938 [Bible states Oct. 22 but death certificate states Oct. 23].  James & Vandelia are buried in Kitty Hawk at the Austin Cemetery.

James W. & Vandelia (Toler) Beacham had five children:
   1) William Roy Beacham, Sr. - b. Aug. 22, 1899  d. Apr. 7, 1961; married Inez Iola Gamiel (1901-2005) in Elizabeth City, NC on Sept. 4, 1920.  Both are buried in Austin Cemetery.

They had 7 children:
      a) Vera Dell Beacham - b. Mar. 31, 1921  d. Jan. 27, 2006 [see obit]; married Royal Dolen Bush Breshears in Kitty Hawk on Mar. 17, 1941.  [see tombstones in Austin Cemetery]
      b) Alma Beacham - b. Nov. 14, 1922  d. still living; married Guy Holden Hayman (1919-1992)

      c) Melba Beacham - b. June 17, 1925  d. Dec. 2, 2004; married Lionel James Shannon, Sr. (1916-1996)  [see obits for Melba & Lionel Shannon]

      d) Ruth Louise Beacham - b. June 20, 1927  d. Oct. 2, 2003 [see obit]; never married
      e) William Roy Beacham, Jr. - b. c1929  d. Aug. 21, 2012 [see obit]; never married

       f) Shirley Mae Beacham - b. Nov. 10, 1930  d. Jan. 6, 2009 [see obit]; married Dalton Earl Shannon on Apr. 25, 1946
      g) Jerry Holden Beacham - b. Aug. 28, 1941  d. Jan. 10, 2011 [see obit]; never married

   2) Weymouth M. Beacham - b. Sept. 29, 1905  d. May 18, 1930; never married. [see tombstone in Austin Cemetery]
   3) Lena Bell Beacham - b. Oct. 3, 1907  d. Oct. 31, 1999 [see obit]; married widower William Charles Perry on Oct. 18, 1970.

   4) Sylvester Hassell "Jasper" Beacham - b. July 17, 1909  d. July 5, 1957 [see obit]; married Elva Mae (Swain) Roughton (1909-1999) in Pasquotank Co., NC in 1934.  Sylvester is buried in Rosewood Cemetery in Virginia Beach, VA.

   5) Dora Estelle Beacham - b. May 12, 1916  d. Apr. 1988; married Clyde E. Jones in Kitty Hawk on June 15, 1934.
