Currituck County Feb. 25th day 1797

In the name of God Amen, I Gamiel WRIGHT, of the County and State above writen being weak in body but of sound disposing mind and memory, calling to mind and memory that it is appointed for all men once to die, do make and ordain this to be my Last Will and Testament in manner and form as followeth

First recommending my soul to the Almighty God that first give it to me and the worldly goods wherewith it hath pleased God to bless me with I give and bequeath in manner and form as followeth.

Item I lend the use of my house land and plantation to my Wife Saley WRIGHT during of her widdowhood and no longer and also I lend to my Wife during her widdowhood one negro wench named Voilet and also I lend to my Wife the use of one negro fellow named Roberd and likewise lend to my wife all my housen furniture during her widdowhood and all my stock of hogs and 2 cattle and sheep and horses and after my Wifes death or marriage it then my will I give to my children in manner and form as followeth.

Item I give to my two Sons John WRIGHT and William WRIGHT my plantation and land and marsh to be eckly divided between them and also I give to my two Sons one negro boy named Roberd and also I give to my Son William WRIGHT the coalt that my bay mare is now with fold with to them and their heirs lawfull begoten.

Item I give to my Daughter Lydia WRIGHT one negro gairl named Judy to her and her heirs

Item I give to my Daughter Perseller one negro wench named Voilet to her and her heirs and also it is my will and desire that after my Wifes death or marriage that all my stock of all kinds and all my housen furniture to be eckly divided between my four children Lydia, John, William, and Perseller WRIGHT

I do nominate my trusty friend and Brother John WRIGHT for my executor to this my Last Will and Testament utterly disnoling all other testmoneys but for this only to be my Last Will and Testament as witness to the same I have hereunto set my hand and fixt my sel the same day and date above writen.
