The Last Will and Testament of Willoughby WEST SER. Deceased was exhibited in open court at August Term 1840 and proved by the oaths of John C. HETFIELD and Peter PARKER subscribing evidences there to in due form of Law and ordered Recorded.

   In the name of God amen I Willoughby WEST SER. of the County of Currituck and State of North Carolina, calling to mind my mortality and knowing that it is appointed for all men to die being in my perfect senses and sound and disposing mind, do make and constitute and ordain this to be my Last Will and Testament in manner and form as follows.

   Item I loan to my beloved wife Nelly WEST the one third part of the land and plantation where on I now live during her life.

   Item I give to my beloved wife Nelly WEST at my death all the personal property in doors and out doors that I have not given and delivered to my children in my life to her and her heirs and assigns for ever.

   Item I give to my son Willoughby WEST at my death Two thirds of the plantation that I live on and the other third of the death of my wife Nelly WEST to him and his heirs and assigns for ever. The aforesaid plantation containing one hundred acres more or less.

   Item I loan to my daughter Elizabeth WALKER the land adjoining my son Willoughby WEST containing fifty four acres more or less during her life at her death I give the aforesaid fifty four acres to be equally divided betwen her children to them their heirs an assigns for ever.

   Item I loan to my daughter Nelly SCOTT thirty six acres more or less of land adjoining the lands of Daniel LEE deceased and William McBRIDE during her life at her death. I give the aforesaid thirty six acres of land to be equally divided between her children to them and their heirs and assigns for ever.

   Item I loan to my daughter Susanah MORSE the tract of land I purchased of James BLUNT during her life at her death I give said tract of land I purchased of James BLUNT to be equally divided between her children to them and their heirs and assigns for ever.

   Item I leave the pass way across my plantation and lands for the benefit of my heirs and friends commencing at the road that leads to Joab DOZIER thence passing near the house where my son Willoughby WEST now lives thence near the house where I live thence across my land to the public road nearly opposite the gate where Moses LEE now lives as a public pass way for ever.

   Lastly I nominate and appoint my beloved wife Nelly WEST and my son Willoughby WEST my whole and sole executors to this my Last Will and Testament revoking all others by me made whereof I have here unto set my hand and seal this the fifteenth day of February in the year of our Lord 1839.  Signed sealed and published and declared published and declared [sic] to be the last will and Testament of the Testator in the presence of us.
