Mikiel Waterfield, Sr.

March 15, 1795 - July 15, 1796

In the name of God Amen, I Mikiel WATERFIELD SEN., County of Currituck and State of North Carolina, being very sick and weak in health but perfect in memory, Thanks be to God for it, caling unto mind the mortality of my body and knowing that it is appointed for all men once to die do make and ordain this my Last Will and Testament, that is to say, principally and first of all I give and recommend my soul into the hands of Almighty God that gave it and my body I recommend to the earth to be burried in a christain like manner at the discression of my ex. and as touching such worldly estate wherewith it hath pleased God to bless in this life I give devise dispose of the same in the following manner and form.

Item give and bequeath unto my two Daughters namely Mary WATERFIELD and Easter WATERFIELD a certain piece of land that John GORDEN now lives upon running as follows begining at the foot Abraham WATERFIELD path and runing north course to the line of Tho. WILLIAMS and easterly along his line to the main county road and westerly as the road runs to the first station namely the foot of the afsd. path.

Item I give and bequeath unto my Son Abraham WATERFIELD the lands and plantations I now live upon begining and runing as follows begining at the water edge and runing upon Malachi JONES line to the main county road and then runing northerly and easterly as the road runs to the line of Tho. WILLIAMS and then down the sd. WILLIAMS line an easterly course to the line of John LIETCHFIELD decd thence down the sd. LIETCHFIELD line an easterly course to the water and along the wateredge to the first station.

Item I give and bequeath unto my Son William WATERFIELD a certain piece of land he now lives upon begining and runing as follows, begining at the main road at a hickory marked which divides my lands and the lands of Malachi JONES and runing westerly at the line now runs up to where the said line turns northwardly and thence runing northerly as far as the afsd. JONES line runs a northwardly course then runing northwardly course along the plantation Jno. WILLIAMS now lives on to the corner tree of my land and Thomas WILLIAMS land thence an easterly course down Thos. WILLIAMS to the corner where my two Daughters line will adjoin the afsd. WILLIAMS line and then a south course down my Daughters line to the main road and thence a southwardly course along the road to the first station namely the marked hickory.

Item give and bequeath unto my Son Mikiel WATERFIELD a certain piece and tract of land that I bought of Mr. Henry WHITE lying in the manner and form as it did when I bought it of the said White to him and his heirs for ever.

Item I give and bequeath unto my Son John WATERFIELD a certain piece and track of land where my Son Abraham WATERFIELD now lives binds on Malachi JONES line on the eastward and northward sides on the marsh on the westward side and on the lands I have give Mikiel on the south side.

Item I give and bequeath unto my Son Abraham WATERFIELD one negro named James to him and his heirs for ever.

Item I give and bequeath unto my Son William WATERFIELD one negro named Jack to him and his heirs forever.

Item I give and bequeath unto my Daughter Esther WATERFIELD one negro woman named Sarah to her and her heirs for ever.

Item I give and bequeath unto my Daughter Mary WATERFIELD one negro girl named Franky to her and her heirs for ever.

Item I give and bequeath unto my Son John WATERFIELD one negro man named Peter to him and his heirs for ever.

Item I give and bequeath unto my Daughter Elizabeth WATERFIELD one negro man named America to her and her heirs for ever.

Item I give and bequeath unto my Daughter Ann BEASLEY Wife of William BEASLEY one negro girl named Dinah to her and her heirs for ever.

Item I give and bequeath to my Daughter Esther WATERFIELD one bed and furniture which stands in the little room that I now lay on to her and her heirs for ever.

Item All the remainder of my property after paying my lawfull debts I leave to be equally divided amongst all my children.

Also I likewise constitute make and ordain my two Sons Abraham WATERFIELD and William WATERFIELD my whole and sole ex. to this my Last Will and Testament in witness whereof I have set my hand and seal this fifteenth day of March in the year of our Lord one thousand seven hundred and ninety-five.
