In the name of God Amen. I John TATUM of the County of Currituck, being very sick and weak, or in perfect health of body, but or and of perfect mind and memory, thanks be given unto God calling unto mind the mortality of my body, and knowing that is appointed for all men once to die, do make and ordain this my Last Will and Testament, that is to say, principally and first of all I give and recommend my soul into the hands of Almighty God, that gave it and my body I recommend to the earth to be buried in decent christian burial at the discretion of my executors, nothing doubting but at the general resurrection I shall receive the same again by the power of the Almighty God, an as touching such worldly estate whereunto it please God to bless me in this life, I give, devise and dispose of the same in the following manner and form.

First. I lend unto my beloved Wife Polly TATUM the land and house, and all the rest of my property, during her life or widowhood: likewise I give and bequeath unto my Son Jehue TATUM after my Wifes death or widowhood all my land likewise one gun and pistol, to him and his heirs forever. Likewise I give and bequeath unto my two Daughters Betsey TATUM and Zelphae TATUM all the rest of my property to be equally divided between the tow [two] Daughters to them and their heirs forever. I likewise constitute, make and ordain Isaac ROBARDS and my Wife Polly TATUM the sole executors of this my Last Will and Testament, all and Singular, and I do hereby utterly disallow, revoke and disannul all and every other former testaments, wills legacies, bequests and executors by me in any ways before named, willed and bequeathed, ratifying and confirming this and no other to be my Last Will and Testament. In witness whereof I have hereunto set my hand and seal this twenty seventh day of January one thousand eight hundred and fifteen. Signed sealed, published and declared by the said John TATUM as his Last Will and Testament in the presents of us who in his presence and in the presence of each other have hereunto subscribed our names.
