In the name of God Amen, This ninth day of August in the year 1790, I Sarah SMITH in the County of Currituck and State of North Carolina being in perfect mind and memory Thanks be to God therefore cauling unto mind mortality of my body and knowing that it is appointed for all persons once to die: do make and ordain this my Last Will and Testament that is to say First of all I recommend my soul into the hands of God that gave it and my body to be buried in a christian like and decent manner at the descretion of my executors and as touching my worley estate wherewith it hath pleased God to bless me with I give and dispose of in manner as follows after paying my depts and creditors satisfied---

I give unto my deer and beloved Sister Mary SMITH my riding horse likewise my Scarlet Clock.

I give unto my Sister Prissiller SCARBROUGH my new Chinch Gound.

I give unto Rubin SCARBROUGH my silver shue buckels.

And the remainder part of my wareing aparill to be equally divided betwen Elizabeth HOWARD, Mary SMITH and Barbara SMITH my three Sisters then,

I give unto my deer and afecsinate Father John SMITH the remainder part of my estate.

I allso appoint my well beloved Father John SMITH my hole and sole executor.

Ratifying this and no other to be my Last Will and Testament in witness whereof I have hearunto set my hand and seal the day and year above mentioned
    /s/ Sarah SMITH     and a seal

signed sealed published pronounced and declared by the said Sarah SMITH as her last will and testament in the presents of us the witnesses
