In the name of God Amen, I Joyace SHANNAN of the County of Currituck and State of North Carolina being weak and low in body but of perfect mind and memory and calling to mind the uncertainty of life and the certanity of death do make and commit to writing this my Last Will and Testament in manner and form following Viz.  First of all I do commend my soul into the hands of Almighty God who gave it me and my body to the ground to be burried in a decent manner at the descretion of my executor herein after mentioned and touching what worldley goods it hath pleased God to bless me with I dispose of as follows Viz.

Item: I give and bequeath to my Grand Daughter Dinah LINDSEY one feather bed and furniture, one pewter dish, one tea kittle, one wooling wheel and one linnen wheel which articles are now in possession of Alex. SIMPSON and I hold thereby a bill of sale to Dinah and her heirs forever.

Item: I give and bequeath to my Daughter Susanna SIMPSON ten shillings current money of this State.

Item: I give and bequeath to my Grand Daughter Dinah LINDSEY the sum of eight dollars to be paid by my executor out of the money that is due me from the widow BROWN. I also give to my Grand Daughter Dinah LINDSEY all my wearing apperrel of every kind and if my Grand Daughter Dinah LINDSEY shall hereafter bring in no acct. for money due at my decease from me or my Son Daniel SHANNAN then and in that case I give and bequeath to my Grand Daughter Dinah LINDSEY one half the tract of land that I now live on to her and her heirs the land to be laid off on the south end of my land, but in case she brings an account against my estate then and in that case I leave the land to sold by my executor to pay off her account the remainder of my land including the house whereon I now live I lend to my Son Daniel SHANNEN dureing his natural life, and after his decease I give the same to my Grand Daughter Dinah LINDSEY and her heirs forever all the remainder of my goods and assets of every kind money due me or anything that I have any claims to I give and bequeath to my Son Daniel SHANNEN and to his heirs forever.

Last of all I nominate constitute and appoint my Son Daniel SHANNEN my whole and sole executor to this my Last Will and Testament in testimony whereof I do hereunto set my hand and affixed my seal this 3rd day of March in the year of our Lord one thousand eight hundred and seven.
