Silas Riggs
Feb. 14, 1853 - May Term 1854

February the 14th day 1853

I Silas RIGGS of the County of Currituck and State of North Carolina being of sound mind and memory but considering the uncertinty of my earthly existence do make and declare this my last will and testament in mannir and form following that is to say,

First - That my Executor hereinafter named shal provide for my body a decent burial suitable to her my wife wishes and pay my funeral expences togather with my just debts.

Item - I give and devise to my beloved wife Lydia all my household furnature of all kings one horse and all my stock of all kinds an in shant? all my property of all kinds that I posess in this life.

And lastly I do hereby constitute and appoint my beloved wife Lydia my lawful executor to this my last will and testament acording to the true intent and meaning of the Same in every part and clause thereof.

Signed sealed published and declared by the Said Silas RIGGS to be his last will and testament in presents of us who at his request and in his presents do subscribe our names as witnesses thereto.

Currituck County Court -- May Term 1854

The within Paper writing Purporting to be the last will & Testament of Silas RIGGS was Exhibited in open Court for probate & the executor thereof by the said Silas RIGGS was proved by L. POYNER & Wm. CAFFEE the Subscribing witnesses thereto.  It is therefore considered by the Court that the Said Paper writing is the last will & testament of the Said Silas RIGGS & the same is ordered Registered & filed.
