In the name of God Amen,

I William POYNER of the State of North Carolina and County of Currituck being sick and weak of body but of sound disposing mind and memory thanks be given God for the same and knowing that it is once appointed for all men to die, do make and ordain this instrument of writing to contain my Last Will and Testament in manner and form following.

Item: I lend the use and benefit of my land and plantation where on I now live together with the houses thereon to my beloved Wife Polly POYNER during her lifetime or widowhood and no longer for her support my three smallest children and raise and school them on.

Item: I give and bequeath to my Son James POYNER fifty acres of land lying in Buckskin  Island being the land that came by my first Wife Sarah to him and his heirs forever.

Item: I give and bequeath to my Son Samuel POYNER the land that I bought of Josiah BELL and Godfrey WHITEHURST joining Jolliff HOLSTEAD land being twenty one acres more or less as will appear by the deeds to him and his heirs forever.

Item: after my Wifes death or intermarriage give the manner plantation I now live on to the child that my Wife Polly is now pregnant with in case it is a boy but if a girl I give the said land and plantation to my Son James to him and his heirs forever and in case it so happens that the child that my Wife is now pregnant with should be a girl and the manner plantation cedes to my Son James POYNER he shall pay to my Son Samuel POYNER two hundred silver dollars the difference as near as can be istimated of the lands left them.

Item: My will and desire is that my Wife have the use of all my personal property during her widowhood to raise my daughter on _____ at death or marriage the whole of my personal estate to be equally divided between the whole of my Daughters namely Nancy, Lydia, Mary and Salley the one unbornd if a girl to them and their heirs forever.

Lastly I nominate constitute and appoint my friend Tho. BAXTER whole and sole executor of this my Last Will and Testament ratifying and confirming this and no other my Last Will and testament I witness whereof I have hereunto set my hand and seal the seventh day of January in the year of our Lord Anno Dom 1809.
