In The Name of God Amen I William POINER of Currotuck County & in the Province of North Carolina Being very sick & weak in Body but in Perfect mind & Memory Thanks be to Almighty God For it Therefore Calling to mind the Mortallity of my Body & Knowing that it is appointed For all Men Once to die doe Make & Ordain this my Last Will & Testament That is to say Principally & First of all I Give & Recomend my soul Into the Hands of God that Gave ti & as For my Body I Recomend it to the Earth to Bee Buried in a Christian Like & Decent Manner at the Discretion of my Extrs Hearafter Named Nothing Doubting but at the General Resurrection I shall Receive The Same again by the Mighty Power of God and as Touching such worldly Estate Wherewith it Hath Pleased God to Bless me in this Life I Give Revise [sic] & Dispose of the same in the following Manner & Form--

Imprimas I Give & Bequeath to my well Beloved Sone Nathaniel POINER the Plantation & Track of Land Whereon I Now Live Containing Three Hundred and Twenty Four acres with all Previledges & Commodities in any wise thereto Belonging to Him & his Heirs For Ever.  I Likewise Give unto my afsd Sone my Plantation & Tract of Land Lying in Moeyock containing one Hundred & Sixty acres of Land Binding on the Mill Pon & on James BURNHAM's Land & Willis BRIGHTs Land the same to him & his Heirs & assigns.

Item I Give & Bequeath to my Well Beloved Daughter Elisabeth POINER my Plantation lying on the Southermost sid of the Beavour Dam & Binding on Jonathan POINERs Land by a Line of Marked Trees with all ye apertenances Previledges & Commodities to the Same Belonging or in any wise appertaining Containing one Hundred & Fifty acres of Land the same to Her & Her Heirs of Her Body Lawfully Begotton For Ever.  I Lifewise Give to my afsd Daughter the First Child that my Negro wench Brings that Lives to the age of one year & a Half old to her & the Heirs of her Body Lawfully Begotten.

Lifewise my will & Desier is that my well Beloved Sone Nathaniel POYNER may have my Negro wench with all Her Increas after Paying to my Beloved Daughter Elisabeth POINER the First Child that ye afsd wench Brings that lives to the age of one year & a half old as is afore mentioned to my Beloved Daughter as Part of her Legacy.

I Likewise Will & Bequeath the Remainder Part of my Worldly Estate after Paying of my Lawful Debts to be Eaquilly Devided Between my Beloved Children vizt Nathaniel & Elisabeth POINER as afsd by them to be Quietly Possessed & Injoyed.

I Likewise Constitute & appoint my Trusty & well Beloved Friends Mgr [Major? or Magistrate?] William SHERGOLD & Coll [Colonel] Caleb WILSON my one & sole Extrs of this my Last will & Testament utterly Revokeing Disalowing & Disanulling all & Every other Former will or wills Legacies or Request by me in any wise hearto fore Named Willed or Bequeathed Rattiefyeing & Confirming this & no other to be my Last Will & Testament in Testimony whereof I have Hearby set my Hand with my seal this Twenty Seventh Day of April in the year of our Lord one Thousand seven Hundred & Fifty Three.

    These may Certifie that Samuel SIMMONS John CHITTUM & Johnathan POINER Appeared in open Court and made oath that they were present and Saw William POINER Sign Seal publish and Declare the within Writing to be and Contain His Last will and testament and that the Said William was then and at that time of Sound and Disposing Memory then appeard William SHERGOLD one of the Executors and took the Executors oath in Due form of Law ordered that the Honourable James MURRY Secretary Have Notice thereof that Letters Testamentary Ishue thereon as the Law Directs.
