The Last Will and Testament of Powers POYNER deceased was exhibited at August term 1838 and duly proven by the oath of Isaac BAXTER in due form of Law and ordered Recorded.

In the name of God amen.   I Powers POYNER of County of Currituck and State of North Carolina being of sound and perfect mind and memory blessed be God do this Second day of January in the year of our Lord 1833 make and publish this my last will and testament in manner following that is to say.

   First I commit my soal to God that Give it and my body to be buried after my death by my executors in a decent Christian form and as tuching such worldly substance as God has blessed me with I give as follows

   First I lend unto my wife Lydia POYNER the Land and Plantation where on I now live during her natural life and after her death I Give and bequath the land and plantation whereon I now live to my Son Robert Martin POYNER and his heirs for ever.

   Item I Give to my son Jesse POYNER one X cut saw and one cow to him and his heirs for ever.  

   Item I Give unto my Grand Son William WIGGINTON one Dollar to him and his heirs for ever.

   Item I Give and bequeath unto my Grand Son Robert WIGGINTON one Dollar to him and his heirs for ever.

   Item I Give and bequeath unto my Grand Daughter Amanda TAYLOR one dollar to her and her heirs for ever.

  Item I Give and bequeath unto my Grand Son Benjamin TAYLOR one Dollar to him and his hars for ever.

  Item I Give unto my Grand Son Robert Wilson POYNER one dollar to him and his heirs for ever.

  Item I lend unto my beloved Lydia POYNER negro woman Chaney and negroe woman Peggy with my horses cattle hogs sheep corn pork bacon household and kitchen furniture of every description without & with in dores that is not given away during her natural life and after death I Give and bequeath unto my daughter July Ann POYNER three Hundred dollars out of my property lent to my wife after her death to go against the land given to my Son and the Balance of the lent property to be equally divided between July Ann POYNER and Robert Martin POYNER to them & their heirs for ever and I hereby make and ordain my wife Lydia POYNER & Isaac BAXTER Executors to this my last Will and Testament.  Witness whereof I the said Powers POYNER have to this my last Will & Testament set my hand and seal the day & year above written.
