In the name of God Amen, I Thomas PAINE of the County of Currituck, being very sick and weak in body but of perfect mind and memory Thanks be given to God, calling unto mind the mortality of body and knowing it is appointed for all men once to die do make and ordain this my Last Will and Testament, that is to say, principally and first of all I give and recommend my soul into hand of Almighty God that gave it and my body I reccomend to the earth to be burried in decent christian burial at the descretion of my executors nothing doubting but at the general resurrection I shall receive the same again by the mighty power of God and as touching such worldly estate wherewith it hath pleased God to bless me in this life I give demise and dispose of the same in the following manner and form.

First I give and bequeath to my well beloved Wife Mary all my ready money and one negro man named Jeffry with all and singular the rest of my property of every sort during of her natural life and then to be disposed of in the following manner and first of all I give and bequeath to my well beloved children Sarah, Mary, Thomas, Christian, Richard Sanderson, John, Bethany, six hundred and forty acres of land laying on Long Shoal River to be equally divided among them also I give and bequeath to my Daughter Mary one negro woman named Edith and two boys named Jack and Andrew also I give and bequeath to my Grand Son Benjamin DANIEL one negro girl named Chaney also I give and bequeath to my Son Thomas one negro boy named James also I give to my daughter Christian one negro girl named Edith also I give to my Son Richard San: one negro woman named Rachel also I give to my Son John one negro girl named Milley also I give to my Daughter Bethany one negro woman named Judy. Also I give to my Grand Son David PAINE one negro girl named Bess also I give to my Grand Son Thomas PAINE one negro boy named Boson I also give to my three Sons Thomas, Richard San:, John one negro man named Jeffery, also I give to my Daughter Bethany that piece of land whereon she now lives begining at Jacob MIDYETTs line to the great cherry tree running then east eleven degrees south to the sea side also I give to my Son John that piece of land whereon he now lives from the great cherry tree to the great live oake at the old school house running then east eleven degrees south to the sea side also I give to my grand Son Thomas Paine Richard San: the piece of land whereon he now lives from the great oak at the school house to the vain pole oak running then east eleven degrees south to the sea side also I give to my Grand Son Thomas PAINE piece of land from the vain pole oak to sand drean then east eleven degrees south to the sea side also I give to my Son Richard San: a piece of land from the sand drean to my north line then east to the sea side. also I give to my Son Thomas that piece of land wheron he now lives containing one hundred and fifty acres. also I give to my Sons Thomas Richard San: John all my land on Cape Hatterass to be equally divided among them. Also I give to my three Sons Thomas Richard San: John all my water passages. Also I give to my daughter Bethany one mare called Flower. Also I give to my Grandson Thomas PAINE one mare called Spry and three head of cattle and one gun. Also I give to my children Sarah, Mary, Thomas, Christian, Richard San:, John, Bethany all my stock of every kind to be divided equally among them . Also I give to my Sons Thomas, Richard San:, John and Bethany a feather bed apiece. Also I give to my three Sons Thomas, Richard San:, John all and singular my property to be equally divided among them. Also I constitute and make my three Sons Thomas, Richard San., John the sole executors of this my Last Will and Testament and I do hereby utterly disallow revoak and deasannull all and every other former testaments, wills, legacies, bequeathes, and executors by me in any ways before named willed and bequeathed ratifying and confirming this and no other to be my Last Will and Testament in witness whereof I have hereunto set my hand and seal this 15th day of Oct. 1798.
