John Norton of Albemarle County
Sept. 30, 1744 - July 2, 1745

In the Name of God Amen I John NORTON of the prect of Currytuck County of Albemill and provance of No Carolina Being weake and Infirm of bodey But of Perfect Mind and Sound Memory thanks be to God for it and being in Expectation of my Last and grate Change Do ordain and appoint this my Last Will and testament vocking All other will or wills by me made here to fore and this my Laste Will and testement in mannar and form following first I Give and Commend my Soul to god that Gave it me hoping through the mareites and Mediation of our Saviour to find ye? beuteous? Redempton and Body the Earth to be Decnsly bured at the Discretion of my Exe: hareafter--

Item  I Give and Bequath To my Eldest Son William NORTON a Sartin parsel of Land Containg one hundred fifty Eakars Laing on Powles Point Called by the Name of Paines plantation one Seder Chest and Large Ceder table one pasle of puter to be equley Devided amonst my Six youngest Children namly William John Jonathan Abgill metable hanah to be equley devided to ye Children Dischen.

Item  I Give and Bequath to my Son John NORTON one hundred and fifty Eakres of Land Laing Joyning on the north Side of the Land given to my Son William NORTON takeing in all the Bulding in the Said John NORTON Lands.

Item  I Give and Bequath to my Son Jonathan NORTON one pasel of Land on the Banks containg two hundred Eakres Called by the Name of Padue pint plantation.

Item  I Give and Bequath to my Son Asac NORTON one hundred and seventy Eakers of Land Laing on the North Side of Jonathan NORTON Land on the Banks the Lands Now Given to the forsaid four Sons to them and their ares Exectors adm: and asines for Ever and I do also appoint and it my true Intent and menning that my Son William NORTON and John NORTON be and hereby whole and Sole Exetors of of [sic] this my Last Will and Testement So Revoking Disanuling aforesd and other will or wills and testment And this my Last.  This 30th Day of Septamber anno Domy 1744.

Present His Majesties Justices
    These may Certify that Mary NORTON & Margret RUSSELL, Two of the Subscribing Evidences to the within will Came into Court & made Oath on the Holy Evangelists that they were Present & Saw John NORTON Sign Seal Publish & Declare the within to be & Contain his Last will & Testament & that the said John NORTON was then & at that time of Sound & Disposing Memory & that also they Saw Jonathan TAGNESS? the Other Subscribing Evidence Sign his Name thereunto at the same time.
