In the name of God Amen, I James NICHOLS of the County of Currituck and State of North Carolina, being weak in body but of sound memory, blessed be God, do this twentieth day of May in the year of our Lord one thousand seven hundred and ninety five, make and publish this my Last Will and Testament in manner following, that is to say,

First I give to my daughter Sally NICHOLS all the land that I hold on the north westerly side of the road over against my dwelling house bounded as the said road runs, also I give and bequeath to my Daughter Elizabeth NICHOLS all the land that I hold on the south easterly side of the road whereon I now live

I leave my still for the use of my said Daughters Sally and Elizabeth only for their Mother and Grandmother to have the use of her as long as they remain widows to distill their own liequor with, also my will and desire is that my chest of carpenters tools, my riding saddle, my shooting gun, and my horse called Jack should be sold and the money to pay my just debts, likewise I leave all the remaining part of my estate both within doors and without to my dear and beloved Wife as long as she remains my Widow to maintain she and the children upon as long as she remains my widow or death but if marrying before my two Daughters comes of age, that is to say, Sally and Elizabeth all my moveable property to be sold only the still excepted and the money to be equally divided between my two Daughters, also my will and desire is that each part of my land agreeable to will should be rented out at the highest bidder every year untill they come of age or marry and my will is that they should have education so far as to read and write and to be clothed sufficently after they get big enough to take care of it and the remaining part of the rent to be put on interest untill they are capable of receiving of it and I make and ordain my trusty friend Josiah CHERRY and my trusty friend Edward DOUGHTY my executors of this my Last Will in witness thereof I the said James NICHOLS, have to this my Last and Testament set my hand and seal this day and year above written.
