Will of John MURRELL
August 1816

I give unto my two sons John MURRELL and Samuel MURRELL one tract of land, called the MACOY tract, which I bought at John McCOYs vendue, and is marked and bounded agreeable to my deed from Thomas GARRET Esq., to be equally divided between them in Quantity and Quality. But you, John to have the end next to the water, and a priviledge to get fire wood, and rail timber off the woodland in the other part.

Item 2. I give unto my son William MURRELL one small tract of land that I bought of James WILLIAMS, which is adjoining the land of Zorabable HARRISON, beginning at an oak tree and running a westerly course to GARRETTs line.

Item 3. I give unto my beloved wife Peggy MURREL one tract of land where the house stands, beginning at a post, then running a northerly and westerly course to Caleb FORBES line. I also give unto my beloved wife all my household and kitchen furniture, also one negro woman named Rachel, and one negro boy named Riddick, all of which she is to keep uninterrupted during her natural life or widowhood.

Item 4. I give unto my daughter Ann after my wife's death or marriage the negro woman Rachel, to her and her heirs forever.

Item 5. I give unto my son Levi after my wife's death or marriage the negro boy Riddick, to him and his heirs forever.

Item 6. I also give unto my son Levi MURREL after my wife's death or marriage the house and land which I left her.

Item 7. I give unto my son Smyth the remainder of the land which I have not given away, laying between the tract that I give my son Samuel, and Thomas GARRETTs one.

Item. I give unto my son Nathaniel MURREL twenty shillings, only as his full share of my estate.

Item. I give unto my son James one negro boy by the name of Tom, to him and his heirs forever.

Item. I give unto my daughter Susan MURREL two hundred and fifty dollars cash.

Item. I leave my Negro man Dave to be sold and all my estate that I have not given away, and the money to be equally divided among all my children, except Nathaniel MURRELL. Last of all I constitute, nominate, and appoint my wife Peggy MURREL, my whole and sole executrix to this my last will and testament. In testimony where of I have hereunto set my hand and seal this 9th day of May 1816.
