Last Will & Testament of John MORRISETT
Currituck County, NC

   In the name of God Amen I think this a time most fit to make this my last will and testament and I ordain this to be.

   Item 1st I give and bequeath unto my son Thomas MORRISETT five dollars.

   Item 2nd I give and bequeath unto my son John MORRISETT five dollars.

   Item 3rd I give and bequeath unto my daughter Mary Jane LOCKRIDGE five dollars.

   Item 4th I give and bequeath unto my son Peter MORRISETT five dollars.

   Item 5th I give and bequeath unto my son William MORRISETT five dollars.

   Item 6th I lend unto my wife Mary Ann my houses yard and southern field and the priviledge of the woodland and the personal estate during her life or widowhood.

   Item 7th I give and bequeath unto my sons George W. MORRISETT and Andrew J. MORRISETT one bed and furniture.

   Item 8th I give and bequeath unto my son Andrew J. MORRISETT one bed and furniture.

   Item 9th I give and bequeath unto my sons George W. MORRISETT and Andrew J. MORRISETT the northern field and the priviledge of the woodland belonging to the farm.

   Item 10th I give and bequeath at the death of my widow or her marriage unto my sons George W. MORRISETT and Andrew J. MORRISETT the houses yard and southern field and all the woodland and marsh land belonging to the farm.

   Item 11th After paying my just and lawful debts out of my personal estate I give and bequeath unto my daughter Anna Amelia MORRISETT all my personal estate at the death of my Widow or marriage of her.

   Item 12th I do constitute ordain and appoint H.H. SIMMONS my sole executor to this my last will and testament.  This 10th day of May 1870.

   Currituck County      }    In Probate Court
   A paper writing purporting to be the last will and testament of John MORRISETT dec’d is exhibited in this Court for Probate by H.H. SIMMONS the Executor named therein and the due execution thereof by the said John MORRISETT is proved by the examination and oaths of E.B. SIMMONS and David J. MORSE subscribing witnesses thereto.  It is therefore adjudged by the court that the said paper writing and every part thereof is the last will and testament of the said John MORRISETT and the same is ordered to be recorded and filed and thereupon the said H.H. SIMMONS Executor aforesaid duly qualified as such by taking the oath required by law.
