Theophilus Kallam

Currituck Co. Will Book 2, pp. 255-256

In the name of God Amen, I Theophelus KALLAM, being very weake of body but of sound and disposing maind and memory and calling to mind the uncertainty of human life and that it is appointed for all men once to die do make and ordain this my Last Will and Testament in manner and form following Viz.

Imprimis I give and bequeath to my Son Benjamin KALLAM one half of my land and plantation joining John POYNERs land, one negro woman named Sarah, one young black horse, one cow and yearling and one feather bed to him and his heirs forever.

Item I give and bequeath to my Daughter Polley POOL one negro girl named Ruth and one negro girl named Bets, one ewe and lamb, one young bay mare, and one year old colt to her and her heirs forever.

Item I give and bequeath to my Sons Theophelus KALLOM and Shadrick KALLAM one negro boy named Peter and one negro girl named Milly, one negro girl named Peg to be equally divided between them and their heirs and to each of them one feather bed and if either of them dies heirs lawfully begotten of his body to fall to the other to them and their heirs forever.

Item I give and bequeath to my Daughter Fanny KALLAM one negro man named Sam and one fether bed to her and her heirs forever.

Item I give and bequeath to my Son William KALLAM one half of my land and plantation joining Andrew DUKEs land to him and his heirs forever.

It is my will and desire that my Son Benjamin KALLAM shall have the use of the land and plantation bequeathed to my Son William till he is eighteen year of age to keep him raise him and school him and if either of my two Sons Benjamin and William dies without heirs lawfully begotten of their bodies to fall to the other and their heirs forever

It is my will and desire that one old horse, one old mare three hogs, hand mill, hoes axes, plows, and the remainder of sheep stay on the plantation for the use of my children and plantation also corn now growing.

Item I give and bequeath all the remainder of my moveable property after my debts is paid to be equally divided between my two Sons Theophelus and Shadrick and their heirs forever.

Lastly I will and desire that my Son Benjamin KALLAM and Hosea BALL be and are hereby appointed my executors to this my Last Will and Testament given under my hand and seal this 14th day of July 1804
