Malachi Jones
Sept. 3, 1821 - April 22, 1822
Currituck Co. Will Book 3, pp. 121-122

In the name of God Amen. I Malachi JONES of Norfolk Borough and State of Virginia being very sick and weak of body but sound mind and memory thanks be unto God for the same do make this my Last Will and Testament in manner and form following to wit.

Item. I give and bequeath unto my Wife Lydia JONES one negro woman named Tenor and her child Comelia to her during her natural life and then to decend as hereafter named.

Item. I give and bequeath unto my Son John B. JONES the following negroes Owen Joe Sucky and her child Aurther with all the household and kitchen furniture that he now has in possession with all stock of cattle except one cow which my negro woman Amy now has for her use and seven or eight young bull yearlings.

Item. I leave and bequeath Catharine MORFORT the following property all my lands on Knotts Island Currituck County N. Carolina and houses and lots in said Borough of Norfolk with all my part of the salt works and my vessel now building one horse Quick Step Gig and harness with the following negroes Goret Jim Abner Afferca Jack Stephen Beck Daniel Nems and Dresella with all my household and kitchen furniture untill her present children namely Albert Gallaton Jerome Bonapart Catharine Taylor Robert F. BISHOP and Sarah BONNEY shall all arrive the age of twenty one year for their support and then to be equally divided between all of said children then living.

It is my desire that my negro woman Amy live where she now lives unmolested during her life and also that after the death of my Wife Lydia JONES that the said Tenor and all her children be divided amongst the above named children.

Item. It is my desire that the ballence of estate be sold at the discretion of my executor except my doubl cased gold watch which I give unto the above Robert F. BISHOP forever. And lastly I constitute and appoint my Cousin Moses BONNY executor of this my Last Will and Testament revoking all others as witness. Signed and sealed this 3d day of September 1821 and for my said executor not to be compelled to give bond and security for the performance of the same.
