Currituck Co. Will Book 3, pp. 131-132

In the name of God Amen. I William JARVES of the State of North Carolina and County of Currituck do this day in the year of our Lord one thousand and eight hundred and twenty two the third day of May calling to mind that it is ordained for man once to die. Do make and ordain this my Last Will and Testament in manner and following.

Item. First I leave as much of my property to be sold as will pay all my just debts and funeral expenses.

Item. Secondly I lend to my Wife Elizabeth JARVES land, negroes, and all the remainer of my estate within doors and without and at hir death or marriage my land to be equally divided between my two Sons William JARVES and Martan JARVES the north end to William and the south end to Martain to them and their theirs forever, also at my Wifes Elizabeth JARVES death or marriage I give all my estate negros stock household firneture to be equally diveded between my two Sons William JARVES and Martain JARVES to them and their heirs forever. And I make and appoint Hosea BALL and Lemuel BALL the whole and sole executors to my Last Will and Testament.
