In the name of God Amen, I Thomas JARVES SEN., of Currituck County and State of North Carolina being in my perfect sences and strenght of memory Thanks be to God for it and knowing that it is appointed for men once to die do make and ordain this my Last Will and Testa- ment. First recommending my soul to Almighty God who gave it me and my body to be burried at the discresion of my executor hereafter mentioned and as to my estate which it has been please God to bless me with I dispose of in manner following

First recommending that all just debts be punctually paid and the remainder I give and bequeath in the following manner.

Imprimis I lend to my beloved Wife Lydia JARVES during her natural life the one half of the land and plantation and buildings whereon I now live and the westwart part of my plantation to the southward of the creek which divides this whereon I now live and that to be divided agreeable as the fence now runs a cross the said plantation with the priviledge of raid timber and fire wood for the support of the same and also two negros by name Georg and Sue and one mare called Ventur and one riding chair and harness and likewise the one fourth part of my personable property of every kind except my negros whether in dours or out dours during her natural life as aforesaid----

Item I give and bequeath to my Daughter Susanna ROBERTSON her choice of my mairs on the banks to her and her heirs.

Item I give and bequeath to my Son Samuel JARVES the land and plantation whereon I now live bounded as follows, begining at the westerly corner of SIKES land then running a west course to Jonathan LINDSEY line then a sourthwardly with said line to a corner tree in the low ground then a southwardly and eastwardly course along LINDSEYs and SIMMONS line to the head of the horse bridge, then down the branch to BARROTs line then a westwardly course with BARROTs line to a corner pine then a northwardly course to the first bounder the one half of the plantation aforesaid he is not to possess till after the death of his Mother, the above gift is to him and his heirs for ever.

Item I give to my Son Richard JARVES one tract of land bounded as follows, begining at Thomas WALKERs line at the sound side and binding said line to the westwardly corner then a northwardly and westwardly course binding Joseph EVANS line to a north east corner of said EVANS land then a northwardly and eastwardly course so as to strike the head of the gar pond creek then down the said creek to the sound then by variouses of said sound to the first bounden to him and his heirs for ever and likewise one negro man called Joseph and one negro man called Sam and one young horse called Pit to him and his heirs forever----

Item I give to my Son Samuel JARVES one young mare called Spring.

Item I give and bequeath to my Daughter Lydia JARVES one tract of land begining at SIKES westwardly corner then binding the land I gave to my Son Samuel to Jonathan LINDSEYs line then a northwardly and westwardly course with said line to COATS line then down said line to Currituck Sound then along the sound to the mouth of a small creek which divides SIKES land and mine then up said creek to the head then binding SIKES line to the first bounder to her and her heirs forever, and likewise one negro man called Robin and one negro man called George after her Mothers Dec'd. and likewise the mair and chir I lent to her Mother after her said Mothers decease.

Item I give to my Son Richard JARVES after the decease of his Mother one negro woman called Sue to him and his heirs forever.

Item I give and bequeath to my Son Richard JARVES and Daughter Lydia JARVES after the decease of their Mother all the residue of that part of my estate which I have lent to my Wife and have not already given away after her decease to be equally divided between them

Item I give to my Daughter Lydia JARVES one horse called Pilgrim and womans saddle and bridle to her and her heirs for ever.

Item I give to my two Grandsons Jonathan JARVES and Thomas JARVES all my tract of land and plantation lying to the southward of the creek binding the land I give to my Son Richard to the southward SHANNERs line to the westward and Currituck Sound to the eastward the westward part of the plantation they are to possess till after the death of my Wife said land is to be equally divided between said Jonathan and Thomas in quantity and quality to them and their heirs forever.

Item my will and desire is that all the residue of my estate that I have not already given away by the will whether real or personel be equally divided between my three children by name Samuel, Richard and Lydia to them and their heirs forever.

and I do nomonate and appoint my Wife Lydia JARVES and my friend Nathan HALL my whole and sole executors of this my Last Will and Testament hereby ratifying and confirming this and no other to by my Last Will and Testament in testimony whereof I have hereunto set my hand and seal and published pronounced this to be my Last Will and Testament this twenty fifth day of June in the year of our Lord one thousand seven hundred and ninety five.
