In the name of God Amen. I John JARVIS of the State of North Carolina and County of Currituck, do this day in the year of our Lord One thousand Eight hundred and Sixteen, the Tenth of April. Calling to mind that is is ordained for man once to die, do this day make and ordain this my Last Will and Testament, in manner and form following.

Item. First I give and bequeath to Son William JARVIS one gun, to him and his heirs forever.

2. I give and bequeath to my Daughter Nancy BALANCE one small desk, to her and her heirs forever.

3 Item. I leave as much of my perishable property to be sold as will pay my just debts and funeral expences.

4 Item. I give to my Daughter Betsey JARVIS one bed and furniture, to her and her heirs forever; and one cow and calf.

5 Item. I give to my Son John JARVIS one bed and furniture, one cow and calf to him and his heirs forever.

6 Item. I give to my Son Foster JARVIS one bed and furniture, and one cow and calf, to him and heirs forever.

7 Item. I give and bequeath to my children by name Nancy BALANCE, Thomas JARVIS, Betset JARVIS, John JARVIS and Foster JARVIS, all the remainder of my estate, both within doors and without to be equally divided between them, to them and their heirs forever.

8 Item. I make & appoint my Son John JARVIS the whole and sole Executor to this my Last Will and Testament.
