In the name of God Amen, I Lamuel HOLSTEAD of the County of Currituck and State of North Carolina, being sick of body but of sound disposing mind and memory, blessed be the Almighty God for it, I do make and ordain this to be my Last Will and Testament. First that is to say I recommend my soul to Almighty God that give it and my body to be desently buried in a place where it should please my executors hereafter named, and as to what estate it hath been please God to bestoe(sic) me I give and dispose in manner as followeth,

First, Will and desire is that my loving Wife Lydia should have the use of one negroe Tom during her life and after her death I give the afsd. negroe Tom to my Son Jesse to him and his heirs forever, and I also give to my Son Jesse cow and calf to him and his heirs forever.

Item: Give and bequeath unto my Son Seth fifty acres of land on Buxskins to him and his heirs forever, Also I give to my Son Seth one cow and calf and one sow and pigs, and one ewe and lamb, one bed and the furniture belonging to it to him and his heirs forever.

Item: I give and bequeath to my two Sons Richd. and Joshua the land and plantation where I now live on containing one hundred and fifty acres to be equally divided between them from the swamp to the cypres tree to them and their heirs forever, but if either of my afsd, Sons should die Richd. or Joshua without lawfull heir or issue then his other Brother to have his part of the said land to him and his heirs forever.

First will and desire is that my loving Wife Lydia should have the use of one negro girl call Hannah and after my Wifes decease I give the afsd. negro Hannah to my Daughter Francis GREGORY to her and her heirs forever.

Item: I give and bequeath unto my Daughter Lydia the first child my negro wench Eady bringss to her and her heirs forever, I also give to my afsd. Daughter Lydia one bed and the furniture belonging to it to her and her heirs forever. Also give my said Daughter Lydia two cows and calves and two ewes and lambs to her and her heirs forever. I also give the second child that my negro wench Eady brings to my Son Richd. to him and his heirs forever.

Item: I give and bequeath unto my Son Joshua the third child my negro woman Eady brings to him and his heirs forever.

Item: I give unto my Son Joliff the fourth child my negro woman Eady brings to him and his heirs forever.

Also my will and desire is my loving Wife Lydia should have the use of negro Abby during her life and after her death I give the said negro Abby to my Son Joliff to him and his heirs forever.

Also my will and desire is that my loving Wife Lydia should have the use of my negro wench Eady during her life and her death I give the afsd. negro wench to my Son Seth to him and his heirs forever.

I also constitute and appoint my Loving Wife and my Son Jesse my hole and sole executors of this my Last Will and Testament to see all my estate settled according to this last will and the law shall require. In witness whereof I have hereunto set my hand and afixed my seal this 16th day of September and in the year of our Lord one thousand seven hundred and eighty four.
