[The Nathaniel N. Hampton Bible as well as the will of Elizabeth Williams shows this testator as being James H.W. Hampton.  It is believed that whoever transcribed the original will for the records made an error in the transcription.]

The Last Will and Testament of James H. H. HAMPTON Decd. was Exhibited at February Term 1836 and Proven by the oath of Lemuel BALL and Isaac WALKER and ordered recorded

In the name of God amen I James H. HAMPTON of the State of North Carolina and County of Curituck Calling to mind That it is ordained for man to die being of Sound mind and recolection do make and ordain This my last will and Testament in manor and form following That is to Say Imprimis I give and bequeth to my beloved wife Betsey HAMPTON all the land where on I now liv to hur and hur airs for Ever.  Item I give to my beloved wife Betsey HAMPTON my horse all the catle all the hogs all the sheap all the pottry to hur and hur airs forever

Item I give to my beloved wife Betsey HAMPTON all the corn all the peas all the potoes all the farming Tols Cart and harness togeather with all the rest of the property without dores and all with in all the accounts nots and money I Leave my beloved wife Betsey HAMPTON my whole and Sole Excutor  to This my last will and Testament September 26th day in the year of our lord one Thousand Eight hundred and Thirty five
