In the name of God Amen, I Seth HALSTEAD, of the County of Currituck and State of North Carolina, being sick of body but of sound disposing mind and memory, blessed be the Almighty God for it, I do make and ordain this to be my Last Will and Testament.
First that is to say, I recomend my sould to Almighty God that gave it and my body to be decently burrid in a place where it shall please my executors hereafter named and as to what estate it hath been pleased God to bestow me I give and dispose in manner as followeth.

First will and desire is that my loving Wife Mary should have the use of negro girle Amey during her widowhood and after her marriage or death I give the afsd, negro Amey to my Son Malichi to him and his heirs forever.

My desire and will is that my loveing Wife Mary should have the use of two beds the furnature belonging to them also I give to my loving Wife one horse and two cows and two sows and piggs, two ewes I also lend to her my red chest during her life and after her death I give the afsd. chest to my Son Malichi.

I give and bequeath to my Son Malachi my land joining James HUGHES to him and his heirs forever. Also I give to my Son Marlichi after the death of my Mother negro wench Eady and Abraham to him and his heirs forever.

I give and bequeath to my Son Tommy Isaac and Anthony to them and his heirs forever. Also it is my will and desire to have all my movable property for nine months credit and after the money collected and all my just debts paid the residue to be equally divided between my two Son Thomas and Malachi for the purpose of educating of them. Also it is my will and desire to leave my Wife Mary as much provisions as will last her one year. Also it is my will and desire that negro boy Tom for his faithfull services to me should be mannumited and set free from the hands of my executors, I also constitute and appoint my Brother Richard and Joshua my whold and sole executors of this my Last Will and Testament to see all my estate settled according to this my Last Will etc. as the law shall require in witness whereof I have here- unto set my hand and affixed my seal this 21st day of June and in the year of our Lord one thousand seven hundred and ninety eight.
