William Guard
Feb. 5, 1856 - May Term 1856

In the name of god amen

I William GUARD of the county of Currituck being very sick and weak of body but of perfect mind and memory thanks be given unto god calling unto mind the mortality of my body & knowing that it is apointed for all men once to die do make & ordain this my last will & testiment that is to say principly and first of all I give & recommend my sold into the hands of almitey almighty god that give it & my body I recommend to the earth to be buried in a decent maner & form.

First I give to my wife Nancy GUARD and fore children Emeline GUARD William Standley GUARD Robert T. Pain GUARD Lewtisha GUARD all of the lands belonging to me and each child to have its part of said land when they come of age I all so give to my beloved daughter Aby TILLETT three hundred dollars in money or good notes I all so leave my worthy friend Ivy DOWDY my executor to this my last will & testiment this February the 5 day 1856.

Codicil to my Will

All my stock of all kinds & all of my chattle property in dores & out I give to my wife Nancy GUARD & her fore children that is now liven Emeline GUARD William Standley GUARD Robert T. Pain GUARD Letishey GUARD the said property to be under the controle of the executor this February the 5 day 1856.

BROCKET - John BARNARD & Hilliary SIMMONS  to try the following issues to wit is the paper writing propounded for probate the last will & testament of William GUARD Decd together Say it is the last will & testament of said GUARD and is duly executed to pass both real & personal estate.
